It's now official. Australian Alps Trek Support is an officially licenced permit holder with Parks Victoria!

11 June 2023 Update

Field services ( transfers, food drops, water drops, emergency support, evacs, resupplies) will start 1 November 2023 and go to 1 May 2024. and then the same for each annual season after that. We won't be offering services over winter. We are currently taking enquiries and preliminary bookings.

We will be working across the Victorian High Country but broadly covering a wide area of Vic Alps and specifically the AATW, McMillans Track and other remote area multi day walks. Areas include national parks, state forests, forest reserves etc

AATW: We will only be servicing the Vic Alps part of the AATW for the first couple of seasons. AATW covers three governments with three different systems, and many different rules, agendas and restrictions from a wide range of agencies. Its going to take a while.

We are finalising the online booking system ( the same we use at LTTS via Rezdy) but we might start with an online form in the interim. Finalising this now. Available soon.

March 2023 Update

All is on track for full service launch in November.

Next month we will opening up bookings for transfers and food drops in the Aust Alps.

January 2023 Update

Progress with our Australian Alps Trek Support (AATS) service is going well but our full range of trek support services for the AATW and Aus Alps wont be fully operational until November 2023. If you are planning your AAWT for Nov 2023 onwards, contact us to register your interest.

We will be bringing with us to the Alps the high level of quality, exceptional and reliable services to the Australian Alps that we have here on the Larapinta Trail. So you can expect a rock solid and reliable services for your AAWT or any other multi-day Alps hike. All of our vehicles for the AATS will be advanced four wheel drive Landcruiser's or muscled up HiAce buses, with all the standard safety and comfort needed to look after our customers.

At this stage, our AATS service will cover only the Victorian portion of the AAWT for 2023-2024, but we will gradually expand the services into NSW and ACT if the demand is strong enough.

Our operations in the Alps will run from October to March.

The trek support services that will be offered for the Australian Alps Walking Track (AAWT) and the other multi-day Alps trails includes:

  • Transfers ( standard and remote areas)

  • Food drops ( at resorts, towns and remote area caches)

  • Water Drops ( Remote area caches)

  • Resupply ( for equipment failure, food replacement etc)

  • Medivacs ( for priority 3 or less injuries)

  • Emergency Evacs ( fire, weather evacs etc)

In February we are completing another field recon and assessment of the Australian Alps in Victoria but this one will be our final, but most thorough and comprehensive one before we start operations. If you see one of our cars with Trek Support or LTTS cruising around the Alps, wave us down and say g'day. More than likely there will be some cold drinks, fruit and veg on board!

During this time will be working closely with Parks Victoria, Rangers, Police and Emergency Services in Mansfield, Bright, Wangaratta and Mount Beauty to ensure our systems synchronise with local frameworks and capabilities.

FAQ: Where will be your physical office?

At this stage, we are planning to set up an office and depot in either Bright or Mansfield or both. We aim to fuse with local business and employ suitably qualified and experienced locals from these locations. While that is being set up, general enquiries and bookings will be managed via LTTS in Alice Springs, NT.

FAQs: Who can book AATS services?

In the Oct 2023 - March -2024 block, we will be offering our services in November to vetted past and existing LTTS customers and non-LTTS customers who can demonstrate suitability for completing the AAWT or other multi-day trails in the Alps. More info will be provided soon.
